Porsche Brand Ambassador and Service Advisor at Porsche Fremont
Hi Michelle, I’ve been lucky to have you as my Service Advisor at Porsche Fremont. Tell me about your work…
How long have you been a Service Advisor? When did you get started and how?
I have been a service advisor since 2016 when I started working at Porsche Fremont. Prior to working at Porsche Fremont I worked for Hertz rental cars in Fremont and in Milpitas. My office at that time covered all of Fremont Automall which allowed me to create relationships with the service advisors and service managers at several dealerships. When I stopped by Porsche Fremont I fell in love with the cars. I asked the management team there to keep me in mind for any openings. I started my career at Porsche Fremont as a Porter. I greeted customers, parked cars, washed them, corrected tire pressures, performed coolant and oil top offs, and anything else in between. A year later I started training to be a Service Advisor and it was an easy transition from there.
What do you enjoy the most about being a Service Advisor?
What I love most is making relationships with coworkers and customers. Going to work feels like I’m hanging out with friends everyday. I also of course love the cars. Porsche makes the best cars in the world and I am lucky to be able to see, drive, and work with all the different Porsche models.
Women employees tend to be severely underrepresented at automotive dealerships, including Porsche. Why do you think that is?
We are unfortunately still stuck in an old school mentality where the automotive industry is assumed to be a male-dominated line of work. Porsche is a strong brand created by men, so for historic reasons women are still underrepresented at Porsche but I do see this starting to shift.
How can Porsche attract more female customers to the brand? Do you think having more female representation at dealerships would help?
I think creating a women based community helps tremendously. Women encouraging women is powerful and together we can show that women can also be auto aficionados. I believe that having women employees in the dealership would help woman customers feel more comfortable. That can then lead towards building relationships and friendships, thus, more women becoming Porsche owners.
What attracted you to the Porsche brand and what made you decide on becoming a Porsche customer?
What attracted me to the brand initially is the beauty of a GT3. But I also love how versatile and fun the Macans are. I decided to be a Porsche customer/owner because there is no other car like Porsche. The driving experience is unlike any other car, regardless of which model you choose.
